"Is Low Blood Pressure Holding You Back? Understanding Hypotension"

  *Introduction - Blood pressure is the force that blood exerts against the walls of your arteries as it circulates through your body. It’s measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and recorded as two numbers: systolic pressure (the pressure when your heart beats) over diastolic pressure (the pressure when your heart rests between beats). A typical “normal” blood pressure reading is around 120/80 mmHg. While high blood pressure, or hypertension, often grabs the spotlight, low blood pressure—known as hypotension—can also have significant health implications. Hypotension is generally defined as a blood pressure reading below 90/60 mmHg. For some people, low blood pressure is normal and causes no problems. However, when it leads to insufficient blood flow to organs like the brain, heart, and kidneys, it can become a concern.
